I cannot imagine going to sea on something smaller than that. Of course that was a few pounds ago. MG01/18/2009 1:55 AMNostalgia! Great video. I was aboard the USS Skate (SSN-578). The Skate was the sister ship of the Nautilus and I was abpard the second Polar Expedition of the Skate. I took some 8mm film on that trip when we rendezvous with the USS Seadragon at the surface of the North Pole. I made a DVD conversion from the 8mm film and I'd like to share a copy especially to my skipper, CDR Koch and to the XO LCDR Hayworth, but I don't know where to contact them. I was their steward at the time, but I am now a retired EMC, Thanks to the XO who recommended me to change my rate. Kboard01/17/2009 10:20 PMExcellent Video. Wish I had a copy. I remember my first time on the Nautilus. I had just graduated Sub School and she was still in commission in 1974. She was a grand old lady. I have been aboard her since being welded to the pier at Groton. It's a sad ending for a proud ship. She seems sad and yearns to be at sea. MS Vista01/17/2009 4:56 PMCan't rate. The sound just starts and thn stops and then restarts and kept going like that. What do I need to do. LCDR Cam Graham USN (Ret.)01/17/2009 2:32 PMI was eight years old when the Nautilus made her first cruise. From that then on, I knew I wanted to join the Navy. When I was 10, I built my first Revell model: USS Nautilus. |
